Childhood

Esmeralda Negron was born on January 15, 1983 in Harrington, N.J. She started playing soccer when  she was 6 years old and became interested in Princeton while middle school. She also was balancing both athletics and academics.

University Life

Esmeralda graduated from Princeton University in 2005 with a Spanish and Pre-Med double major.

She destroyed the soccer record books at Princeton, both for the men and the women, during her.college career. Esmeralda set the Ivy League mark for points scored in a season (23 points) and set Princeton season records (52 points, 20 goals, and 12 assists). She scored 47 goals for Princeton, more than any other male or female ever to play for the school. Esmeralda Led Princeton to the NCAA tournament Final  Four where they were defeated by UCLA. This was the first time an Ivy League has ever made a woman's soccer Final Four.

Professional Soccer Life

Esmeralda  played on  the United States U21 (under 21) national team that won the Nordic Cup in Iceland in 2004. In the summer of 2006, she played for the New Jersey  Wild cats of the Women's United Soccer League.

After graduation, she played professionaly in Europe. For the first season, she played for the USCO Compiengene  club team in France. She went on to play in the first division for Koln, Germany.

Achievements

In 2009, Esmeraldda was named number 2 top female athletes of the decade.
